The climate on how best to support our workforce is evolving.

Awareness around the importance of mental and emotional health is increasing, and growing attention is being directed towards supporting those with mental illness.

The long-term effects of chronic stress on the body and mind are also better understood, and the need to support individuals in learning how to effectively manage stress, has become an important consideration for many organizations.

The energy of our people influences the energy of our company.

How our people feel, and what they focus their attention on, influences and impacts the collective whole. Energetically we are all connected, therefore the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of our people matters greatly.

Unfortunately, for the majority today, stress has become a detrimental factor in the maintenance of good health and wellness. Regardless of where the stress originates from (ie. work related pressures, financial stress, family or home life challenges, health concerns, or behavioural stresses such as an extremely busy lifestyle), many find themselves in a negative inner state day-in and day-out. Left unchecked, this can begin to compound creating dis 'ease' and illness within the body and mind.

Increasingly organizations are beginning to Cultivate a Culture of Mindfulness and seek 'inner world' support for their people --- because in the end, the energy of their people, influences the energy of the company.

Meditation is fast becoming a staple within many progressive companies for employee development, personal growth, increasing creativity, and fostering an environment of innovation and thought leadership.

At Apple, Steve Jobs was considered a pioneer of “mind technology” when he introduced Zen Mindfulness Meditation to the corporate culture at Apple. Employees now have access to a meditation room, enjoy 30-minute daily meditation breaks, and have access to meditation classes and on-site yoga, which Steve Jobs personally used to reduce his own stress, gain more clarity, and enhance his creativity

When Salesforce (an enterprise cloud computing company) first opened in doors in 2016, it offered employees a meditation room on every floor -- a move that the CEO said was “really important to cultivating innovation”.

One of Google’s original software engineers (award-winning engineer, international bestselling author, thought leader, and philanthropist Chade-Meng Tan), spearheaded a program in 2007 called “Search Inside Yourself” which has helped hundreds of employees learn how to breathe mindfully, improve listening skills, increase compassion, and enhance their emotional intelligence. Google offers an on-site meditation space and meditation courses, believing that meditation can help improve not only employee mental health and well-being, but the company’s bottom line as well.

When other companies were installing gyms, P&G CEO A.G. Lafley was starting a meditation instruction program and installing meditation spaces in P&G’s corporate buildings. He’s quoted as saying, “You cannot out-work a problem, you have to out-meditation it.”

Intel began offering it’s Awake@Intel Mindfulness Program in 2012. Participants report a decrease in stress and feeling overwhelmed, an increase in overall happiness and well-being, and a significant increase in new ideas, insights, mental clarity, creativity, ability to focus, quality of relationships at work, and level of engagement in meetings, projects, and team efforts.

The sports megabrand NIKE is another company actively incorporating meditation and mindfulness into the corporate culture. Nike employs a mindfulness and meditation coach who leads “mindful leadership” workshops for employees.  Regular yoga and meditation classes are also available on-site, as well as special relaxation rooms where employees are encouraged to nap if they need to, and of course, meditate.

My intention as a Coach is to help your business thrive, by first helping the people within your business thrive.
